Poets in the Making

Success Stories

Within its first year of publication, The Raymond Hill School Review has become an outlet for students to print news, commentaries and original pieces.  These poems by high school students appeared in the February 2010 issue.  Congratulations to these two authors for their creative contributions.  Keep on writing!

When I get to be a composer
I’m going to write me some music about
life and dreams and success and failure,
And I’m going to put the realest songs in it
Rising out of the ground like the mist of fallen tear drops,
And falling out of the sky like flaming meteors.
I’m going to put some hail and rain on it,
And the scent of something burning,
And the smell of fresh fallen rain,
And broken hearts
And loving words
And romantic melodies
And hateful pictures.
When I get to be a composer and write about
LIFE.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming up
So walk around tall and tell everybody, “what’s up”.
Do your work but don’t get paper cuts,
and give everybody kisses and hugs.
When it’s time for Valentines,
Go to a party, grin and tell someone, “be mine”.
Give someone a card, a gift, or something that shines,
And if you don’t have a valenine that’s fine.
