La’Mora Hardy is one of our very own Child Development Specialists at Klingberg Family Centers—but that’s not all. A Hartford native, she grew up loving both art and helping others. Today she continues to combine those strengths in a unique way through her work at the Elizabeth Webster Safe Home.
“I always knew that I wanted to be involved in the helping and welfare of others, without abandoning my artistic passion,” La’Mora says. So she puts her creative gifts to good use by doing scrap booking and artistic projects as well as hair design and styling, all with the children at the Safe Home—making her unit a richer, more therapuetic place to live.
A talented artist in her own right, La’Mora’s work is influenced by the people around her and influential icons of the past and present. She loves to use vibrant color on many different mediums and surfaces such as clothing, sneakers, wood and glass. She recently exhibited works at the 20th Annual Open Studios Art Show at the ArtSpace Hartford Gallery, where she won the People’s Choice Award.
She is also the founder of the artist collaborative Procreate. Procreate is a diverse group of Greater Hartford Artists that comes together to celebrate and share their artistic talents with the community through love and expression.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in illustration from Central Connecticut State University, La’Mora has gone on to pursue a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at the University. She plans on continuing to reach out to kids, all the while developing her visual talents.
